Philodendrons is one the most gorgeous plants for its beautiful overlook. The large glossy leaves of them, will give you the tropical vibes. Philodendrons are widespread for interior decorations. These plants are very suitable for indoors as well as outdoors.

Philodendrons are native to central america and south america. These plants belong to the Araceae family. The heights of philodendron plants varies upon species. 5 Tips to care for philodendron plants

  • Soil: Utilize a pot with at least one drainage hole. Philodendrons need some well-draining, loose potting soil. You can replace your plant’s soil every year. 
  • Sunlight: Generally philodendrons do their best in bright light but these can live happily in indirect or moderate sunlight. So, place your philodendron plant in the shed of a window where it can get indirect sunlight. However, direct sunlight can scorch your plant leaves. 
  • Water: Philodendron plants do not like to sit in soggy soil, they love their soil to be moist. Over watering can cause root rot and leaf drop. Water it only when the soil is dry to touch. 
  • Fertilizer: Feed your plant with some liquid fertilizer that has micro-nutrients every month. In the growing season your plant will need fertilizer frequently.    
  • Propagation: The best way to propagate a philodendron is by cutting the stem or dividing the roots. Spring is the best season to propagate a philodendron.

Philodendron plant’s problem:

  • Yellow leaves are a sign that your plant is overwatered.
  • Brown tip of the leaf is also a sign of overwatering.
  • Curling of the leaves indicates dehydration or extreme salt build-up.
  • Yellow patches in the leaves are a sign that your plant is affected by mosaic virus. 

Philodendron is one of the best plants for brown thumbs. This plant purifies the indoor air efficiently and removes the toxic elements from the air. Philodendrons are toxic to animals and can cause Irritation or burning in the mouth. So,it is best to keep your plants out of the reach of pets and childrens.
