5 no-maintenance plants to grow in this winter

No matter whether the season is scorching summer or harsh winter, nature always stays flourishing. Yes, it is also true that some plants get stagnant in the winter, but there are still a lot of plants which flourishes in the dry season. Even the winter season is considered as the best season to grow flowering plants.

With some good love and care, you have a lot of options of vegetables and flower plants which will thrive in your garden in the winter. But, most people or new plant mothers do not have the idea about what will be the best plants to grow in the winter. Which is why here are some of the plant options which will help you to make your garden bloom in the winter.

  • Lavender: Let’s start with the aromatic yet colorful lavender plant. It is quite a hardy plant, and has a fresh soothing scent which will give you the feeling of a natural aromatherapy. It does not require high maintenance, it just requires it to be watered once the soil dries down but it loves bright light.
  • Marigold: India is a country of festivals, and most of the festivals or in the poojas marigold is the most common flower that we prefer to use. We use marigold in poojas, to decorate our houses and cars as well. And the most beautiful thing is, you can grow them in your garden in the winter. They are low-maintenance as well, you just need to water them when the top 2 inches of the soil is dry. They absolutely love direct sunlight, so you can keep them in your garden, balcony and in your terrace garden as well.
  • Petunia: Petunia is that adorable blooming plant which will definitely make your house or room aesthetically eye pleasing. Being a low-maintenance plant, it just requires water when the soil is dried down. As it requires direct sunlight, you can grow this plant in the balcony and terrace garden as well.
  • Cockscomb: Cockscomb may sound a little funny, but this plant is also called celosia. This hardy plant grows very fast without any high maintenance, and the dry winter it can heighten upto 1.3 meters. You just need to keep them in the direct sunlight or in the bright shade area, and make sure the soil is moist enough.
  • Calendula: Calendula is also known as the “pot marigold”, which is very easy to grow flowering plants. Calendulas mostly have orange and yellow blooms, which thrive in the winter season. It needs direct bright sunlight, and only water it once or twice a week.

Excluding all these flowering plants there are also many crops which you can grow in the winter season, such as spinach, broccoli, beets, cauliflowers, cabbage, radish, green onions and others. So, those are all the plants which you can easily grow in the winter season without any special care.
